Genshin Impact Barbara Hangout guide
The latest feature in Genshin Impact is one designed to help you get a little closer and cosier with some of its most beloved characters - hangouts! These are little story notes, but also have some rewards.
As you spend time with her and make conversation choices, the Barbara Hangout has five different endings you can get - and there's rewards in it for you if you go on to get all five Barbara hangout endings. This Barbara Hangout guide will help you to see every ending and pick up every achievement.
How to unlock & start the Barbara Hangout
While it's more easily accessible than some in the game, there's a few little things you'll need to take care of in Genshin Impact before you can start the Noelle Hangout event:
- Gather enough Adventure Rank EXP and progress the story enough to reach Adventure Rank 18 and Prologue: Act III.
- Once the Barbara Hangout appears in your quest list, you'll need story keys to access it.
- You can get story keys by finishing Daily Commissions; one key for every four commissions. You can only complete four commissions per day, however, so you'll need to do two days' worth of commissions to get what you need. You can use the daily reset time to track when it's a new in-game day, if you like.
Genshin Impact Barbara Hangout guide: how to get every ending
Hangouts in Genshin Impact can vary greatly - some of them are very straightforward, while others are more complicated in how their branching stories interact and intersect to lead to different endings. Barbara actually has one of the most complicated hangouts in the game so far, with multiple 'bad end' dead-ends, and even a secret achievement.
The way it works is a lot like dating mini-games found in many other titles. Barbara's status is represented by a heart meter, and dialogue choices you make can, if incorrect, deplete these hearts. Choices you make also change the future of the hangout - as depicted in the flowchart above, capped from TSoul22 on YouTube. So, different choices lead to different endings for your Barbara hangout time.
In this guide, we detail all dialogue choices to get all five Barbara hangout endings. We even explain how to get the secret achievement - so by the end you should have the "Mondstadt's Spiciest Surprise", "A Line That May Be Crossed" and "An Idol's Last Line of Defense" achievements, for a total of 30 primogems.
Keep in mind that only a few choices matter for each ending - so any dialogue option we don't list won't effect your ending, so you can answer those however you like.
Untimely Enthusiasm | Barbara Hangout ending
This whole hangout with Babara is a little different because it all hinges on one three-part conversation with Albert; this will gate you between the first ending, and the second to fifth. Here's how to get the first:
- Barbara: "Because... Well, just because."
- Just wait here, we'll go send that person away.
- Albert: "*sigh* I don't really even know if Barbara-sama is anywhere around here.
- Barbara isn't here anymore, you'd better head back to the city.
- Albert: "Since Barbara-sama came here to pick those red Wolfhooks, we could just follow the trail of those specific berries to lead us right to her."
- There might be some other areas where wolfhooks grow that you haven't heard about, perhaps Barbara went somewhere else?
- Albert: "By the way... you didn't happen to see any sign of Barbara-sama when you arrived, did you? Perhaps I was hearing things..."
- There are all sorts of monsters in Wolvendom, and not to mention wolves... That must be what you heard.
A Fiery Flavor from Liyue | Barbara Hangout ending
To initially get to this branch point and ending, you can either go through the conversation above making different choices, or you can simply answer Barbara differnetly in the first instance, skipping the conversation with Albert entirely. We're going to do that, for simplicity's sake:
- Barbara: "Because... Well, just because."
- Let's go deeper into the forest and wait for them to leave.
- Barbara: "I guess that's all we can do for now. Although, it certainly isn't nice to treat someone that way... But today, I simply wish to keep to myself."
- So what made you decide to join the Church, Barbara?

- Barbara: "Which would you like to drink?"

- Barbara: "Oh, why don't we split up and search for ingredients? Once we've found the inrgedients we need, we can meet up just south of the Whispering Woods."

The Taste of Hard Work | Barbara Hangout ending
You can pick up from a checkpoint, but this Barbara hangout guide will instead give you complete dialogue options for the A Taste of Hard Work ending from start to finish:

This ending is only slightly different from the previous one; you just have to change what reward you choose to take at the very end. With that said, here's a full set of dialogue choices that matter for how to get there:

This final ending takes you back to the point where you choose a drink, instead choosing a different option that spins the entire hangout off in a different direction.
