The latest issue of gaming magazine Jump has hit news stands over in Japan, and it reveals new information about how the main storyline of the game will work - and its contents.
Followers of the site and series will already be aware that Dragon Quest X was confirmed to be a Massively Multiplayer Online game back
in September 2011, but details of how the story will lock into the MMO side of the release are only now beginning to fully emerge.
The magazine reveals that the game will handle story by having one person the party be the 'story leader' - and plot progression within storylines played in that party will only take place for that player. If the others will have to play missions again when they're the story leader is currently unclear.
The magazine teases at a few of the story threads that'll be included in the game, including storylines revolving around a king who is sick with an unknown affliction and a mystery of disappearing and missing children in another kingdom that players and their friends will be tasked with solving together.
The game, while an MMO, is clearly still focused on traditional Dragon Quest storytelling. The magazine also briefly mentions that the story will continue to be expanded later on, presumably via downloadable content updates for the game - something Square Enix embraced fully with Final Fantasy XI and XIV.
Dragon Quest X will launch some time this year in Japan and is yet to be announced for the West. Remember you can find

Awesome stuff! :D Looking forward to this. Although most of the moves look rclyceed from RB1 and 2, the graphics do look much better. Plus, having a story mode again will prove worthwhile. I dunno about online though, as they'd need to REALLY polish the combat in order to make gameplay fair. I'm talking about fixing the infinite rushbehindyouropponentletthembounce offofyouandcontinuetopunch kinda thing most cell users pulled online in the last two. Still, I'm getting this over COD. :D
