New Square Enix Countdown Page Revealed

In an unusual turn of events considering the circumstances and the games already in the pipeline for Square Enix, the company has launched (pun not intended) a countdown page that features a picture of two planets with a sun in the distance, a box with tweets regarding the site and the words "Universal Accel Cosmic Drive above it in tiny text, a timer ticking down to next Wedmesday, and finally the word "STAR" in the top right corner. If it isn't any more obvious that the site will be revealing a brand new game in the Star Ocean series, the site URL has the term "liftoff" in its address. All will be revealed on 12/12/12.

The last entry was Star Ocean: The Last Hope, which was released on the Xbox 360 in early 2009 with the International version exclusive to the PS3 a year later in early 2010. It seems like forever ago that tri-Ace showed off a fancy tech demo featuring doll figures of all things from the different titles. Regardless of one's opinion on The Last Hope, it is always exciting to hear that there may very well be a new game from the folks at tri-Ace, and I can't wait to find out what will be revealed in the coming days. For all our luck, however, they may just be pimping Star Ocean for the iPhone.
