Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for PS2 US release confirmed

Square-Enix have revealed to managers at this week's Gamestop Manager Conference that they will be releasing Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for PS2 this Holiday season in the USA.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is a PS2 3D remake of the Game Boy Advance spinoff title that takes place between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. The title was originally bundled in Japan with Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix, but will be released in the US as a standalone game with a $29.99 price tag.

This release has been rumoured for some time, but has finally been confirmed with several Gamestop Managers who were present at the conference and sources at Square-Enix.

This is good news and bad news for KH fans - this means we finally get the superior 3D remake of the awesome GBA game - but we will never see the complete, Final Mix version of KH2 in the West. We will be in touch with Square-Enix tomorrow regarding a European release.

UPDATE: Square Enix Europe have spoken to us regarding a European Release.

    I'm looking to buy a gaming console soon, and I know nothing about them. I've asked a few of my friends what they would recommend and it's become a toss up between a PS3 and an Xbox360. At the moment I'm leaning more towards a 360 because it's cheaper.
    So, basically what I'm asking is which console is the best, in your opinion for a complete novice? Which has the wider selection of games (if there's any difference), and which has the better features?

    It is a total remake it sucks!!!!! u have to go completly through Castle Oblivion again! There is only one significant difference between the 2.

    They are on different systems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am not kidding i regret paying 32.99 for the game!

    Nothing has been announced about a North American release date for that title. This is not to say it will never happen in the future, just currently SQUARE ENIX is focusing on other projects. I hope this answers your question and thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX.

    I like to have the Greatest Hits (or equiv.) releases of anything I own, but my _sister_ on the other hand, who currently 'owns' our PS2 KH games, might snag it (or have it snagged for her), allowing my some preemptive use of it before the beautiful red label gets slapped on.

    I am so giddy in mah head right now...!
