The crazy switch is on with the latest trailer for YIIK

After being announced last year, today we get an extended look at the gameplay for YIIK (pronounced as Y2K) especially the exploration segments and the turn-based battles. We see our "hero", Alex, run through fields, navigate forests, make his way into a school building, and watch as some girl plays a game of Dance Dance Revolution with a... keytar? All the way, we see him chuck vinyl records at enemies, drop pandas on to switches, and even throw a cat at a lever. It's like some weird, lucid dream world.

I actually had a chance to play YIIK during Playstation Experience in early December, and had a really good time with it. A lot of people will be quick to tie it to games like Earthbound, but Ackk Studios have taken it a big step forward by incorporate a multitude of puzzles for players to crack. It also has this striking visual style that plays off of different light contrasts to pull the player in, and it took my breath away when I first witnessed it. If the trailer is any indication, the soundtrack will also play a big part in the experience as well.

YIIK: A Postmodern RPG is set to launch late this year for the PC, Playstation 4, Vita, and the Wii U.
