Square Enix confirms FF13 on December 17th, 100 dollars
Posted on September 8, 2009 by Alex Donaldson Square Enix has finally confirmed the release date for the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII, proving yesterday's leak true.Yoichi Wada took to the stage minutes ago at the Final Fantasy XIII Premiere Party over in Japan and announced that the game would debut on December 17th 2009 for 8800 Yen, roughly 95 US dollars.
With tax, the price of the game will rise a little further to around 9250 Yen, or bang on 100 dollars at today's exchange rate.
More from the party as it breaks.
The speed is marginally slower compared to DVDs as well, however DVD data has it's limitations, and BluRay's capacity is far exceeding even your standard dual layer disc. To where Kelvinic is right at this moment there is NO game that utilizes the dual layer capabilities of the BD media. The PS3's drive can understand and WILL read them - so that part you are incorrect on Kelvinc, as for the 'quad-layer' technology That's going to require a smaller diameter of laser which means a newer model of the PS3 - i'm afraid =/
The HD-DVD, and BluRay format war is over, it's done and ended; stop bringing it up. In a few years BluRay will be obsolete just like VHS is now, even though it won over BETA format in the early 80s.
In later news. 100USD is outrageous - that's if you want it straight from Japan im assuming, if you wait for it to be translated, dubbed, ripped apart, censored, and modified for western shores im sure you'll be able to pick it up for the standard 59.99 before tax.
it's so scary of you to say that you are looking at me, feels like i'm sitting in a dark room or something. there's a lot of missnformation in this site here, i'm afraid you need some eye drops if like to do that often.
yes i was wrong, not 48x it was for cd, dvd DL is 12x, but still a lot faster than 2x. (as you didn't ask me to invent a 2x blu-ray drive, i'm assuming that it's true for ps3)
and in reply to Anonymous, i'm not sure he/she was replying me or not as HD DVD was mentioned. first of all i was not talking about HD DVD, and nobody was. and secondly you are right that there exists quad-layer BD or whatever technology which can let a BD to contain indefinite data, but you don't know that it will not be playable in ps3! because the BD player in ps3 just don't support.
let's look at this thing from another angle. nowadays 90% of games exist in both platforms. have you seen any game that ps3 need 1 BD and xbox 360 need multiple discs? i haven't. which means that we are wasting at least 17gig of space in the BD in all multiplatform games. please bare in mind that a BD will not give you better visual or better processing power than a dvd, they are dependent on the machine.
so what's the point?
And the MGS 4 install takes no more then 4 minutes...typically 3.
And development is still ongoing for the Blu-ray technology. For instance, TDK has managed to create and demonstrate a quad-layer BD disc that can hold 100GBs of information and there's even talk that they have an experimental version that can hold 200GB (in six layer). So screw your HD DVD technology.
first of all, you think that a blu-ray dual layer is 50 gig and a dvd9 is 8.5 gig so you say 42 gig difference. but what you don't know is none of the game is ps3 is dual layer. they're all single layer which means it's only 25 gig. so i'll say 1 blu-ray = 3 dvd9
second and most importantly, do you know how fast can your blu-ray player in ps3 run at? i bet you have no idea, so i tell you, it's 2x. guess how fast the dvd play in 360 runs at? 48x.
from the players point of view, do you really mind changing the game disc every 20 hours of game play? to me, i don't. however i really don't like waiting for the extremely long loading time thanks to the 2x blu-ray player of the ps3.
i still remember i have to wait for 10 MINUTES for the MGS4 to install itself to my ps3 in EVERY CHAPTER! at that time i think everyone in the world would just prefer changing the disc, which will take 30 seconds max. i couldn't believe that in the game it actually joke about the fact that blu-ray don't have to change disc. really, what a joke itself......
i know what im getting for christmas XP
and this game has been amped up to the extreme. there's alot of technology running through this game. why wouldn't it be worth 100 bucks?
and as far as i know, the 360 is gonna have problems with this game LMAO.
if this game is $100 then then it might be over 10 discs just to import the damn game.
just to refresh everyone's memory, a blu-ray can hold over 42 more gigs in memory than a standard game disc.
($100 Video game = poor sales)
bring tht shyt to the states nigge ill shit on it and post in on youtube
