Obsidian shows off capital city of Neketaka in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Obsidian has detailed their first major backer update since E3 for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. In this update, Lead Designer Bobby Null goes through some of the details about Neketaka, Deadfire's large urban center.

Neketaka is a grand city that serves as the capital of the Deadfire Archipelago. The video showcases the various districts, including the port district known as the Queen's Berth and the royal district known as the Serpent's Crown. The video also highlights some other mechanics, such as the presence of settlement maps for each major city in the game. The maps will serve as a way to travel between locations in each city as well as involve the party in some text based adventure scenarios.

The city of Neketaka will also include the expected shops, inns, and npcs to interact with, as well as multifaceted dungeon type environments described as being similar to Radric's Hold from the original Pillars of Eternity.  See some of the artwork and environments in the video below.

In case you missed it, we had a chance to speak to the developers at E3 about the birth of Deadfire and why it's one of Obsidian's most personal projects. Pillars of Eternity II is slated to launch early next year.
