Phantasy Star Online 2 Announced, Detailed

Sega had a surprise in store for fans at Tokyo Game Show, quietly confirming that Phantasy Star Online 2 is in development at a stage event for the Phantasy Star Portable games for PSP.

At the stage event Sega confirmed that Phantasy Star Portable was under the works as a PC title, and will see a release at some point in 2011.

Shortly afterwards Sega opened a teaser website for the game (all in Japanese), and a statement on the site says that this will be a true successor to the original Phantasy Star Online, and not another spin-off or a remake. It'll be all-new.

The trailer sadly didn't show any footage of the game, and despite Phantasy Star Universe putting in an appearance on consoles this game is thus far PC only. We'll bring you the latest as we get it, as always, but in the meantime, how do you feel about the announcement of a true Phantasy Star Online sequel? Let us know in the comments!
