Pokemon Sword & Shield: how to get and evolve Porygon to Porygon2 and Porygon-Z

The Isle of Armor expansion DLC for Pokemon Sword & Shield adds a lot to the experience in Sword & Shield, but one of the most anticipated new features is one of the most simple: the DLC brings a boat load of new Pokemon to the Galar Region via the new Wild Area style Isle of Armor area.

One of the returning Pokemon additions includes Porygon, from the original 151 Kanto Pokemon - alongside his evolutions, Porygon2 and Porygon-Z.

Unlike the returning Alolan forms, where you'll have to find Alolan Digletts scattered across the island in order to receive them - Porygon is much easier to capture. In fact, the game gives it to you simply for finishing the DLC's campaign!

How to get and evolve Porygon in Sword & Shield Isle of Armor

Getting Porygon is pretty straightforward. Play through the Isle of Armor DLC until you see the end card, and then return to the Master Dojo. In the living room/den, on the right side of the Dojo - Porygon will be sitting around right next to Hyde on his computer. Examine the Porygon, and he'll tell you that you can keep it. He'll also give you a hint for how to evolve it...

To get Porygon2, you'll need to trade your new Porygon while it is holding the Up-Grade held item. This is one of the many evolution stones and items in Pokemon Sword & Shield. You get one Up-Grade for free, from a Pokeball that is laying around the Isle of Armor's Training Lowlands biome. This might be a bit tricky if you don't have a friend that is willing to facilitate the trade evolution for you, but once you find someone simply give Porygon, trade him to a friend and back, and you're good to go.

Similarly - Porygon-Z requires another trade evolution, though this time you'll require the Dubious Disc. You can get one of these from a Pokeball in the Workout Sea biome, also in the Isle of Armor DLC area. Much like before - give Porygon2 the Dubious Disc, trade him to a friend and back, and you'll have your new Porygon-Z!
