Square Enix announces 35th-anniversary livestream for Dragon Quest, set for May 26

Square Enix has announced a 35th-anniversary livestream for Dragon Quest, which will offer a look into the future of the series. The stream will take place on Wednesday, May 26 at 11:30 pm EDT.

Notably, for the first time ever in Dragon Quest history, the live stream will offer live interpretation from Japanese for a global audience. The English YouTube link is embedded below. A 35th-anniversary website has also opened.

The Japanese website (and Japanese YouTube link) for the event list a start time of May 27 at noon, Tokyo time, thirty minutes before the English stream starts. The event is listed to be in two parts: one for updates of existing DQ properties (like Dragon Quest X, Dragon Quest Walk, etc.) and the second for 'latest lineup of the "Dragon Quest" series'. It seems like the English stream might only cover this second half, which seems sensible as most of the titles shown in the first part are JP-only titles.

In any case, keep the time marked in your calendar, and get ready for more Dragon Quest. Maybe we'll see that New Dragon Quest Monsters that was announced in 2018, but not much since.
