8-Bit Adventures 2 to launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, in addition to PC

Critical Games has announced that 8-Bit Adventures 2 will launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, in addition to the previously announced PC version (Steam, GOG).

8-Bit Adventures 2 is a retro-throwback style RPG, with a visual style reminiscent of classic Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. However, this classic aesthetic is paired with more modern sensibilities, such as the ability to save anywhere and no random encounters. While the game is technically a sequel to 8-Bit Adventures: The Forgotten Journey, the developer states that newcomers can start with this one.

The game has been in development for several years, but it was formally unveiled at Gamecom 2020. According to lead developer Josh Hallaran, last year's Gamescom showing resulted in a 'tremendous number of requests to bring 8-Bit Adventures 2 to consoles', so the decision was made to work towards a simultaneous launch on every major platform. The console versions will be ported by Ratalaika Games.
