World of Warcraft loses 1.3 million subscribers in three months

According to the latest financial report from those chappies over at Activision-Blizzard, their MMORPG juggernaught, World of Warcraft, has lost some 1.3 million subbers in three months with CEO Bobby Kotick noting that the majority of these losses were "mainly from the East, but in the West as well."

Nevertheless, the long-running MMORPG is far from being in its death throes; with some 8.3 million folks still sacarficing their social lives to the game.

Back in October of last year, the release of the latest expansion, Mists of Pandaria, pushed subscriber numbers to just over the 10 million mark.  This latest development is indicative of a game that is starting to run out of steam commerically, but since hitting its creative peak with the Mists of Pandaria expansion, is far from being put to rest.

Meanwhile, Blizzard continues to fill out the development team for their next MMORPG effort, currently known only as 'Titan'.

No details have been released regarding the title, but with Blizzcon due to take place later this year, and the likely continuing haemorrhaging of WoW subscriber numbers, hopefully we'll hear something on this anticipated title sooner rather than later.

Blizzcon 2013 takes place on November 8-9, 2013 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
