Rune Factory 4 Special announced for Nintendo Switch, Rune Factory 5 in development

During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo and XSEED Games announced Rune Factory 4 Special, coming to Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe 2019. Originally released in 2012 for Nintendo 3DS, this is a fully remastered version of the farming RPG. While Rune Factory 4 Special is set to release in Japan on July 25, it does not yet have a release date in the west.

Alongside this announcement, XSEED Games has revealed that Rune Factory 4 has sold over 250,000 copies in North America as of the end of 2018, which makes it one of the publisher's most successful titles.

The Direct presentation also confirmed that Rune Factory 5 is currently in development, but no details were shared.
