Super Mario RPG - Toadofsky Music Guide

Found in Melody Bay, off to the right of the Frog Sage’s pond, you will find the master composer, Toadofsky, and his school of musical tadpoles. You can use the tadpoles to compose melodies you come across throughout your adventure, earning you special cards that will unlock special healing items in the tadpole shop near the frog sage!

How to compose a tune

In front of Toadofsky will be a small pond with lines stretching its width, resembling a music sheet. When you step up to the stone, tadpoles will pop out of the water and move up and down the pond. Jumping on them will lock that tadpole in place, playing a musical note, and summoning the next one. The lines and spaces each account for a specific musical note - starting from the topmost note and descending, it goes Mi Re Do Ti La So Fa. 

When composing one of the three special tunes, any correct tadpole will remain after you hear it, until you try again or leave the area!

Rewards

With each new song you perform for Toadofsky, he will give you a special card that you can turn in at the Tadpole Juice Bar to unlock special purchasable items and reduce the cost of the items: 

First Song - Alto Card

Frog Sage’s Suite no. 18

After meeting the Frog Sage, you can speak to the tadpole to the right of where you hop down to meet the sage, and he will tell you about this tune: So La Mi Re Do Re Do Re

Moleville Blues

The notes can be found for this tune after reducing Dyna and Mite by speaking to the moles digging the in the mind. When you talk to the bottom miner, he will “sing” the song, but hidden in the lyrics will be a hidden message. Some words will have their first two letters capitalized and tell you the notes to use. The notes are: Mi Do So Do Re La Ti Do

Monstro Town Starfish Tune

In Monstro Town, inside the home next to the welcome sign, head to the second floor, and you will find the dancing starfish. Behind him will be a small sheet of music with the notes: La Ti Do Re So Do Re Mi

Your Tune

After you have submitted the previous three songs to Toadofsky, he will ask for one last melody, but this time it can be whatever you'd like. Play whatever you would like, and this little sidequest will be complete!
