Square Enix working on five new IPs

Posted on May 13, 2011 by Alex Donaldson
Square Enix's financial results for the 2010/2011 year have been released, and the fiscal report contains some interesting little titbits that fans of the publisher might take an interest in.

We're still digging through the fiscal report, but one page of the report, titled "Strengthening Own IPs" outlines how Square Enix intend to focus on establishing "10 strong Intellectual Properties".

It outlines current strong IPs as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Hitman.

It then points out that four of Square Enix's major five studios are working on new properties. The Tokyo team, responsible for FF, DQ and KH are said to be working on "Two Original IPs", while Eidos Montreal (Deus Ex), IO Interactive (Hitman) and the new London Wimbledon upstart studio will all contribute one new original IP each.

It's unclear how many if any of these may turn out to be RPGs - but knowing Square Enix we'd expect at least one or two of these new properties to wind up getting covered on this site.

We're still digging through the financial reports for anything interesting, and we'll be out at E3 2011 seeing Square Enix's upcoming line-up in a few weeks time - so stick with us for the latest. Check out the slide from the presentation below.
