The folks over at Nippon Ichi's North American branch have sent out the very first batch of English-language screenshots for the PlayStation Vita port of Disgaea 3, now officially titled Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention for the West. Over in Japan it's known as Disgaea 3 Return.

The screenshots show off a lot of what you'd expect from Disgaea 3 - large, blocky-but-endearing strategy RPG battlefields and sprites and massive numbers attached to outlandish-looking attacks. A Western release for the game is currently unannounced, but be sure to check out our hands-on with the game from TGS.

Check out the new shots below, and remember you can find more screenshots and the TGS 2011 trailer over in the Media Vault. If you can't wait for the Vita and Disgaea 3 to land both the machine and the game are available for import pre-order over on Play-Asia.
