EA Russia list Mass Effect 2 for PS3

Posted on October 11, 2009 by Alex Donaldson
Mere hours after Australian retailer GAME added a PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 to their database EA Russia has added fuel to the fire, listing Mass Effect 2 for PS3 in addition to Xbox 360 and PC on their official website.

EA Russia's official website lists Mass Effect 2 as being for Xbox 360, PC and PS3, an interesting timing in the change considering GAME's addition of the game to their PS3 database.

Mass Effect 2 has previously been promoted as an Xbox 360 and PC exclusive, with the word from Bioware being that the whole trilogy will remain on the PC and 360 alone. Bioware also have Dragon Age: Origins hitting PS3, 360 and PC this year, though the PS3 version is arriving after the 360 and PC versions.

We've contacted both Bioware and EA and we'll report their responses when they arrive - likely on Monday. Be sure to stick with us for the latest Mass Effect 2 News - if you want to stay up to date you can always use our RSS Feed and Twitter to get the news delivered to you!

if anyone cares to look at a copy of ME then you'll see that the game was published by microsoft meaning they would own the rights to the game (well most likely). If i'm wrong then i'm sure stuff like halo and crackdown will also be going onto the PS3

IF, they don't release Mass Effect, but do release ME2 & ME3 on the PS3, then their statement that the entire trilogy will only be available on the PC and 360 would be true.

Also, in terms of games being exculsive to specific platforms, we've seen that banded about so many times that perhaps there could be an option of the PS3 getting ME2 at a later date to that of the 360.

This would make sense if the 360 and PC get the game "early in 2010", because perhaps the PS3 could be getting the game "late in 2010" ????

Hmmmm......

It ain't happening, BioWare and EA have never said anything about this and Microsoft still owns a part of the Mass Effect series. So this is just a retarded mistake

Two seperate listings with already a history of listings on PS3? It seems this title is taking a swing to ps3.

Never gonna happen. Like EA Russia has any sway over the main company, and EA are idiots.

It could be a mistake or... it could be not. The PS3 is mentioned only in the right section of the page with brief description Genre/Developer/PLATFOMRM/Release Date/Language, while in the main body it's written "Mass Effect 2 will see the light on PC and XBOX 360 Entertainment system in the beginning of 2010". Tell you what, none of Russian gaming web-sites or magazines never had any exclusive information on the upcoming games. So, as a Russian, I don't take this 'confirmation' seriously. But who knows...

I think they could make some serious moolah by going multiplatform. I just recently gave up hope that Nintendo would start catering to my gaming needs again. After careful consideration I went for the PS3, but Mass Effect was one of the games that made me seriously consider the 360 and I for one would leap at the chance to own it.

It's definitely going multiplatform, for one simple reason; ME2 has never once been confirmed as an exclusive, which raises an obvious question; why? I think the answer is evident, because it's not going to be an exclusive.

i own the first one, and i'm getting the second on the 360 regardless due to the fact i want to carry over my character, but i like games going multi plat, it gives everyone a chance to enjoy the game. But does it really matter if it comes out somewhere else? If you're going to buy a game on one plat, and then you find it comes out on another plat, all it does is give you more options. The only people hurt by this are M$ and M$ fanboys, but nobody listens to fanboys anyway so who cares?

I only own a PS3 and love it, and I plan on getting a nice PC in the near future, and this is one of the games thats propelling me to get that PC, but seriously the likelyhood of this happening is slim to none
