Final Fantasy XV's Hajime Tabata details multiplayer DLC & character creation system plans

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has given detail about the game's upcoming DLC fans in a new interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

At this point Tabata and his team are focused on improving the scale and comfort in the back half of FF15, a segment of the game that has been heavily criticized - and with good reason. More information on this beyond the previously announced road-map will be revealed soon, Tabata says.

In terms of additions to the game, Tabata says he and his team plan to add time-limited mob hunts based on enemies from the original story as DLC. He’s also heard fans say they’d like to travel with some of the minor characters such as Iris and Aranea also, so they’re exploring a solution for that as well.

In 2017 FF15 will see an online expansion pack of sorts – the foundation of which includes multiplayer. Tabata would like to include characters other than Noctis, Ignis, Gladiolus and Prompto in this feature.

A major part of this desire is in adding a character/avatar creation system to create your own character. The team doesn't just want this to be limited to multiplayer, and is currently investigating how to include it in the main scenario. Perhaps in the main story the avatar character will join your companions but only their appearance will change.

The main story DLC remains the three pieces of content previously spoken of - one each for Prompto, Gladiolus and Ignis. This DLC will be separate from the main quest but offer new and different modes of play.

Tabata also mentions that he'd like to release VR-based content for the game, but has nothing specific to announce on that topic at this time.
