Mass Effect 2 sells 2 million in launch week

Mass Effect 2 is clearly performing as well in sales as it has been doing in reviews, as it's managed to sell over 2 million units in the launch week.

That's mighty impressive for a game that launched in the US on Tuesday and in Europe today, and EA is now boasting the game is the 1st blockbuster game of 2010.

It's deserving of the sales, though - we gave the game one of the highest scores we've ever given - and EA is quick to point out that 40 publications worldwide have given the game a perfect score. The MetaCritic rating of the game currently stands at an impressive 96.

Voice actor Mark Meer has already confirmed that he's signed on for a third Mass Effect title in our interview last week, but with these sales figures expect Mass Effect to become a long-standing RPG series.
