In an interview over at Quietus spotted by the guys over at Badass Digest, Clint is discussing his latest movie score for Black Swan when he lets out that he's working on Mass Effect 3, stating, rather clearly, "I’m doing a video game this year actually. Mass Effect 3." We like it when quotes are clear.

He quickly returns to talking about other projects but then later on talks a little about his plans for how a game like Mass Effect can be scored differently to a movie or any other project he's involved with. "As I was saying about Public Enemy and re-working old hip-hop tunes for Requiem, and kind of re-working old ballet tunes for Black Swan, with something like Mass Effect you’re more like a DJ, with all these elements. You’ve got the holding pattern, then the big explosion where you need the score to kick in. Then you need to take it off on a tangent. You’ve got all these different elements that change depending on what the player does. You have to figure out an overall symphony, but be able to break it down into component parts. You can bring the pain when required."

Sounds like Clint's been looking into the dynamic music system used in games, which was something heavily used in Mass Effect 2, the music naturally kicking up and down notches when enemies come into view and battles begin.

This should be exciting news for Mass Effect fans, as Clint is regarded as one of the most talented composers working in film today. To get him onto a game project is quite a scoop - though we're hoping he pays the necessary respect to the soundtracks of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 and keeps the signature sounds for the sequel.

We'll bring you more on Mass Effect 3 as and when it happens, but in the meantime remember you can check out the awesome debut trailer for Mass Effect 3 over in the Media Vault.
