How to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo and offline
Elden Ring Nightreign is now available worldwide for consoles and Steam. While it is a multiplayer-focused experience with three player support for a single run, you can play it solo and offline. The game doesn't make this very obvious and defaults to trying to matchmake even when you try and play without others. This guide will cover how to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo, how to enable offline mode, and more.

How to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo
When you first launch Elden Ring Nightreign and start a new game, you will need to complete a short tutorial. Once you finish this and reach the hub at Roundtable Hold. From here, you can initiate a new expedition by pressing Triangle / Y depending on your controller and then selecting "Commence Expedition". This defaults to matchmaking for online play. You don't want that. When you first press Triangle / Y, use the right shoulder button to go to Matchmaking Settings. From here, the bottom option lets you choose betwene Single Player and Multiplayer. Set it to Single Player and the "Commence Expedition" button becomes "Commence Solo Expedition". That is how you play Elden Ring Nightreign solo. I've included a step-by-step gallery for it below:
How to play Elden Ring Nightreign offline
When you launch Elden Ring Nightreign, it defaults to connecting to the game's online server. If you play on Steam Deck outside the house or just want to play Elden Ring Nightreign offline when you launch it, you can go into the game's System menu and then select Network. From here, set the Elden Ring Nightreign Launch Setting to "Play Offline". When you do this, it will get you in-game offline. I use this option because it lets me manually "Log In" from the game's title screen to go back online if I'm playing when connected online.
Elden Ring Nightreign is now available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam). Check out all our guides for it here and my Steam Deck feature here.
