The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Endings - How to access each ending in the game

Like many other Team Asano titles from Square Enix, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales has multiple endings that can be achieved by the player. This page will help you navigate the game's various endings and describe how to achieve each one.

While I'll try to keep this page as spoiler-free as possible, it may be inevitable to include some slight spoilers in describing how to achieve each ending in the game.

There are three endings in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. While I don't know what route names will be adopted by the player base for these endings, I will call them the Bad Ending, the Standard Ending, and the True Ending in this guide. Alternatively, based on the color of the save file stamp for each, you could call these the Bronze Ending, Silver Ending, and Gold Ending.

The first key thing to note is that you'll earn an achievement or trophy for each of the endings in the game. You'll also get an in-game stamp on your save file that shows that you've cleared that ending. So whether you are playing on PC, PS5, Xbox, or Switch 2, you'll want to see each ending on your way to the finale. You'll also see a nice parchment-style FIN art for each ending, of course.

The second key thing to note is that the Bad Ending and the Standard Ending are technically optional. This also means that the Bad Ending and Standard Ending are missable. If you proceed too far down the True Ending route, you'll no longer be able to access the Bad Ending or Standard Ending. Thus, I suggest achieving these endings as soon as they are available.

The last key thing to note is that, no matter which ending you see, you'll be able to create a Clear Save and reload back into your playthrough. That means you'll always be able to return to the world to explore for any remaining collectables, whether they are Shards of Life, Cats, or Manuscripts. Please see the above note about how the Bad Ending and Standard Ending are missable, however.

All these endings are also outlined in our Adventures of Elliot 100% walkthrough.

The Bad Ending: As Long as Any Hope Remains

Completing this ending will earn you the achievement As Long as Any Hope Remains. This ending will place a bronze-colored stamp on your save file, so perhaps you can also consider this the Bronze Ending.

The Bad Ending becomes available after the events of Dragonpillar (Age of Budding), after Calotesia leads you to grab the Tracing Needle in the Age of Reconstruction, and after returning to the Kingdom of Huther. In fact, if you simply follow the game's objective hints, it will basically take you straight to this ending.

You'll enter the Northern Tower in the Age of Safekeeping. At the bottom of the tower, you'll fight a boss known only as 'The Sorcerer'. After defeating the boss, the ending that follows this is clearly not final, but you'll gain an achievement and a stamp, and you'll be able to reload into your playthrough to proceed onward.

The Standard Ending: The Peace in Which We Walk

Completing this ending will earn you the achievement The Peace in Which We Walk. This ending will place a silver-colored stamp on your save file, so perhaps you can also consider this the Silver Ending.

In order to achieve the Standard Ending, you'll first need to grab the Leytstaff sword from the Water Ruins (Age of Reconstruction). Then, you'll need to return to Littlehope, Weyzn, and Hitoyori to see more scenes in the Age of Reconstruction, Age of Magic, and Age of Budding, respectively.

Your ultimate goal is to find the three sages, which will unlock Elliot's strongest charge-attack move with the Leytstaff sword. While our full walkthrough gives full details about how to proceed here, the highlights of your objective here are:

  • Age of Budding
    • You'll see some scenes regarding Lyudmila and Hitoyori village. After, you'll be directed to Grandtree for the first sage.
  • Age of Reconstruction
    • Here, you'll have to do a lengthy endurance battle with Heurich. After, you'll be directed to Mount Phoenix for the second sage.
  • Age of Magic
    • Enter Weyzn, and you'll have to do three event battles. After, you'll finally get access to Geared Ruins dungeon in this age for the third sage. Here, you'll gain the "Nomutota" Mystic Seal super charge attack for the Leytstaff Sword.

Once all this is done, return to Northern Tower (Age of Safekeeping). This time, defeat the boss with the Mystic Seal attack.

The True Ending: At the Thousand-Year Journey's End

Completing this ending will earn you the achievement At the Thousand-Year Journey's End. This ending will place a gold-colored stamp on your save file, so perhaps you can also consider this the Gold Ending.

The True Ending path is considerably longer than the other two. Once you get the Mystic Seal attack, once again return to each of the three past ages for more scenes in each. Again, our full walkthrough provides a step-by-step process through the whole ending, while this page will give the highlights.

  • Age of Budding
    • Head to Lyudmila's house, and you'll be tasked to go to Dragonpillar for a scene. You'll then be sent to Grandtree for a boss fight. Simply follow the events after this, which leads to dramatic scenes in Hitoyori.
  • Age of Magic
    • Head to Mao's house to get Mao's Pendant, then head to Northern Tower in this age. After events at the tower, head to Southern Caves - Western Edge guidepost, which leads to an escort event. After this, return to the Northern Tower basement for more dramatic scenes.
  • Age of Reconstruction
    • Here, head to Mao's house for scenes. Proceed with the events with the doctor, grabbing the medicine he requests. Eventually, you'll be tasked with heading to Huther.
  • Age of Safekeeping
    • You'll see a scene at the city entrance, in the throne room, and then at the Eldertree. After this, be sure to grab the Amber Pendant from Princess Heuria's room.

Additionally, for this ending, it appears you'll need to collect a certain number of the Cats available in the game. I'm not sure how many are required, but you should aim for at least 35 (if not all 50), which will reward Elliot with all Cat collection rewards.

To lock yourself into the True Ending, once you have the Amber Pendant, equip it to one of your accessory slots, then head back to the boss at the bottom of Northern Tower (Age of Safekeeping). Instead of defeating the boss, perform three perfect guards.

After this, there's actually a bit more game before the real, final credits. Refer to our full walkthrough if you need more step-by-step guidance.
