The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake - Heart Piece Locations Guide

One of the mainstay collectibles that has been in every main Zelda game is the Heart Pieces. A quarter of a heart container that, when you collect four of them, will give you an extra heart of health. In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the two main collectibles to find are these and the Gold Skulltulas (which we have a full guide on where to find those too), and this guide will show you where all 36 of these pieces can be found.

One thing to note: to access some of the Heart Pieces, you will need to plant a Magic Bean in patches of soft soil (the little dirt mounds with the hole in the top, kind of look like Cheez-Its) as a child and then return there as an adult. The fully grown plants will hover and fly to new, previously inaccessible places. These can be bought from a gentleman sitting near the entrance of the Zora River from Hyrule Field. While the price starts low, each bean you buy will increase the cost by an additional 10 rupees, so be sure to have some money with you.

Heart Piece Locations

Heart Piece 1 - Lon Lon Ranch / In the southwest of the ranch, there’s a crumbling building. Inside here, solve the block puzzle to gain access to a crawlspace that leads to a room with the heart piece.

Heart Piece 2 - Kakariko Village / Using the Cucco found up near the windmill, leap off the ledge towards and fly to the blue-roofed house nearby. Speak to the nearby NPC trapped up here will give you the heart piece.

Heart Piece 3 - Kakariko Graveyard / Take part in Dampe’s Gravedigging Tour (only available at night) the heart piece is the main reward, and you will know you have found it If Dampe mentions whatever he’s digging up is ‘something hard’.

Heart Piece 4 - Kakariko Graveyard / Found hidden by one of the gravestones, which can be revealed at night by pulling it back.

Heart Piece 5 - Lost Woods / A reward for completing the Skull Kid's song mimic minigame.

Heart Piece 6 - Lost Woods / Take the first left after entering the Lost Woods to find a Skull Kid and play him Saria's Song.

Heart Piece 7 - Goron City / Light all of the torches inside Goron City to cause the middle pot to spin, and then throw a bomb inside to get the heart piece.

Heart Piece 8 - Kakariko Village /From the peak of Death Mountain, take a ride from Kaepora Gaebora, and after he drops you, find the heart piece on a nearby rooftop that you can reach by jumping from the southern house's roof.

Heart Piece 9 - Castle Town / Complete the Bombchu minigame challenge to win a heart piece.

Heart Piece 10 - Castle Town / Return the correct white dog to the woman near the entrance to the town. There are three dogs that fit Richard's description, so just bring each one to her until it's the right one.

Heart Piece 11 - Zora River / Take the cucco with you that can be found near the entrance from Hyrule Field, and around halfway up you can use it to flutter jump to some vines. Climb the vines and up here find an area with another cucco that you can use to fly to the heart piece.

Heart Piece 12 - Zora River / Keep the cucco used for the last heart and take it with you until the end with the waterfall. Nearby, you will find a platform you can fly to using the cucco with the heart piece on it.

Heart Piece 13 - Zora Domain / In Zora’s Domain, starting from the throne room and going down towards the water, light all of the torches, and at the end a chest will spawn with the heart piece inside.

Heart Piece 14 - Lake Hylia / Catch a fish at least 55cm long

Heart Piece 15 - Gerudo Valley / Grab the cucco near the entrance and fly to the small ledge to the left of the bridge that has the heart piece on it.

Heart Piece 16 - Gerudo Valley / From the ledge you found the previous heart piece, drop down on the north side and land on a small patch of land. Take the bath further north and around behind the waterfall to where the heart piece is.

Heart Piece 17 - Kakariko Graveyard / Plant a magic bean in the soft soil here and then as an adult, take the plant up to the heart piece.

Heart Piece 18 - Kakariko Village / After getting the hookshot from Dampe, you will be dumped out in the Windmill. On a nearby ledge, you can find the heart piece.

Heart Piece 19 - Kakariko Graveyard / Take part in Dampe's race again and get a time of under 1 minute to earn the heart piece.

Heart Piece 20 - Lake Hylia / As a child, plant a magic bean in the soft soil near the Lakeside Lab, and ride the plant as an adult, then climb to the top of the tower with the heart piece.

Heart Piece 21 - Dodongo Cavern / Plant a magic bean in the soft soil outside of the cavern and then return and take the plant to the heart piece as an adult.

Heart Piece 22 - Death Mountain Crafter / Straight ahead from the entrance on the Death Mountain path route will be a lower area that has the heart piece.

Heart Piece 23 - Kakariko Valley / Collect and turn in 50 Gold Skulltula tokens to earn a heart piece.

Heart Piece 24 - Death Mountain Crater / Plant a magic bean in the soft soil close to the warp point and return as an adult and take the plant to the heart piece.

Heart Piece 25 - Zora Fountain / Hop across the ice blocks floating in the water to reach the heart piece.

Heart Piece 26 - Zora Fountain / Use the Iron Boots to sink to the bottom of the lake near the Ice Cavern entrance to find the heart piece.

Heart Piece 27 - Lake Hylia / After earning the Gold Scale, head to the Lakeside Lab and dive to the bottom of the water tank (don't use the Iron Boots) and touch the bottom, then speak with the scientist to earn the heart piece.

Heart Piece 28 - Zora River / About Halfway up the Zora River is a group of frogs. Play them The Song of Storms to get a heart piece

Heart Piece 29 - Zora River / Play the frogs other songs you have learned until all of them have grown in size to earn another heart piece.

Heart Piece 30 - Castle Town / The reward for completing the Treasure Chest Shop minigame (only open at night). Use the Lenses of Truth to easily complete it.

Heart Piece 31 - Gerudo Fortress / Found in a treasure chest on the highest roof of the fortress.

Heart Piece 32 - Gerudo Fortress / Get a score of at least 1000 points in the horseback archery ranger to get the heart piece.

Heart Piece 33 - Spirit Temple/ As a child, plant a magic bean in a nearby patch of soft soil and return as an adult to ride the plant to the end, where you can get the heart piece.

Heart Piece 34 - Hyrule Field / As an adult, find an empty chest under some large rocks in the Gerudo Desert area and read the Fairy Note near the chest. Then visit the chest again as a child to get the heart piece. You must have read the note as an adult to get the heart piece!

Heart Piece 35 - Hyrule Field / To the right of the castle entrance, there will be a small patch of land with a tree on it. Visit it as an adult and read the Fairy Note. Return to the area and blow open a nearby patch of earth to reveal a hidden entrance where you will find a business scrub. Tell him the password you learned from the note and buy the heart piece for 100 rupees.

Heart Piece 36 - Death Mountain Crater / As a kid, head to the crater by way of the Death Mountain Path. Nearby on the left will be a lower region of ground with a Business Scrub on it, where you can purchase another heart piece for 100 rupees.
