SEGA announces Phantasy Star Compilation

As Phantasy Star Universe draws ever closer, Sega seems to be pumping all they can from their popular RPG franchise.

The latest issue of Japanese gaming rag Famitsu has details on Sega's plans to release the three original Phantasy Star Mega Drive/Genesis cartridges on one shiny disk for PS2, as they did with the Sonic titles first on Gamecube then other formats.

The set will contain Phantasy Star I, II, III and IV - Phantasy Star I will be the Mega Drive release version. The official title of the game is Sega Ages 2500: Phantasy Star I, II, III and IV. If previous form of the "Sega Ages" series of games is anything to go by, the games will feature slightly sharper remastered visuals and sound for the release, similar to Square's PS1 re-releases of Final Fantasy I-VI.

We'll bring you more news on this title and a possible US release as we get it.
