Atomic Heart gameplay compilation gives a long look at the upcoming FPS/RPG
Atomic Heart is a first-person open-world RPG that's been in development for a few years now, originally teased in 2017. Developed by Russian studio Mundfish, the game is set in an alternate reality 1950s where the USSR has progressed far more technologically than any other nation.
You play as agent P-3 - formerly Major Nechaev - a special duty officer and a private agent of professor Sechenov. Sechenov is a researcher in neuro-polymers & robotics, and he has made world-changing breakthroughs in the field. When Nechaev was injured in a lab accident, Sechenov restored his brain activity and outfitted him with metal prostheses, along with giving him a new "P-3" codename. However, a large accident soon takes place at one of the USSR research facilities, in which new robotic lifeforms begin to rebel. P-3's job is to quell the catastrophe.
The gameplay mechanics look to be an FPS/RPG hybrid, with immersive sim elements and a gear-crafting system where players can create long- & close-range weapons. The developers have stated that there will not be standard experience 'levels' for the player, but instead a system of skills that can be combined with each other.
You can check out a compilation of much of the gameplay released thus far below (thanks to YouTube channel GameCross), as well as a description and screenshot set via Mundfish.
