Starfield shows first extended gameplay at Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase

During the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, Bethesda showed off the first extended gameplay for Starfield.

In a 15-minute gameplay video, narrated by Bethesda boss Todd Howard, a spaceship is shown landing on the mysterious moon of Kreet, where the player-character and a bipedal robot companion are looking for an abandoned research facility. The footage shows both first-person and some third-person exploration gameplay perspectives, as well as some of the native fauna of the moon. Combat is shown using a first-person perspective with some third-person actions, and the player is also shown collecting ore and unlocking devices.

We are then shown the capital city of New Atlantis, where we meet several of the game's characters. The player is searching for various artifacts found around the settled systems for discovery purposes, but a rogue group known as the Crimson Fleet stands to claim these artifacts for themselves. We are also given a look at character creation, both in how your player-character looks, as well as their starting skills & background.

Starfield also features base construction, spaceship construction, and flying & aerial combat. Howard ends the presentation by stating that there are over 1000 planets to explore.

The gameplay reveal, description, and a screenshot/art set can be found below. Starfield is set to release in 2023 for Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam).

In this first gameplay reveal for Starfield, Todd Howard showcased more details from the game, including exploration of planets, ship customization and piloting, outpost building, advanced RPG and character creation systems, and much more.
