New Sword Art Online: Last Recollection Trailer shows more goddesses joining the fight

Bandai Namco shared a new story and gameplay trailer for Sword Art Online: Last Recollection, and also validated the faith of hardcore Lisbeth and Silica fans. The new trailer shows off moments from the story that reveal the two characters taking on the mantle of godhood in their fight against the forces of the Dark Territory.

Check out the footage below.

The Sword Art Online: Last Recollection trailer follows up on the initial announcements, and builds on the story laid out in Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris. Tensions between the Human Empire and Dark Territory are rising in the "Underworld", the virtual world where Kirito and his friends are trapped. Populated by intelligent AI people, Underworld is about to be drawn into war as part of the "Final Test," of the Alicization Project, a scheme enacted by the humans that created Underworld in order to force the evolution of AI through conflict.

The trailer shows off more interactions between Kirito and his Underworld friends, Alice and Eugeo. Glimpses of characters from Sword Art Online's "War of Underworld" storyline, like Vecta and Vassago. It also shows Asuna, Sinon, and Leafa adopting their goddess forms. In the original story, Kirito's friends enter the Underworld by using pre-created "deity" accounts with special privileges. Asuna appears as the Creation God, Stacia, Sinon appears as the Sun God, Solus, and Leafa takes on the role of Terraria, the Earth God.

Sword Art Online:  Last Recollection diverges from the source by giving goddess forms to Silica and Lisbeth, as well. Lisbeth appears as an apostle of Ignia, the Fire God, and Silica connects her account to that of Aeria, the Wind Goddess.

Sword Art Online: Last Recollection launches for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC on October 6, 2023. The previous game, Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, is available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The Switch edition of the game just got its final piece of DLC, "Blooming of Matricaria".
