PS Plus May 2023 Game Catalog adds Dishonored 2, Blade Dancer, and Thymesia

Sony's PS Plus May 2023 Game Catalog is getting an update next week, and a few RPGs and RPG-adjacent games are part of the offering. Players subscribed to the upper tiers of a PS Plus subscription - namely the PS Plus "Extra" and "Premium" tiers - will be able to download the games starting on May 16, 2023.

One RPG offering is a relatively recent release, 2022's Thymesia. Developed by OverBorder Studio, Thymesia is an action-RPG in the Souls-like mold and stars Corvus, a warrior trying to save the beleaguered kingdom of Hermes. Players can shift into a raven form, take enemies' weapons, and modify their move sets to tackle new threats.

The second RPG on the list is exclusive to the more expensive PS Plus Premium tier, as it is Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light. A turn-based RPG originally released for the PSP in 2006, Blade Dancer casts players in the role of Lance, a young adventurer seeking to save the land from the menace of the Dread Knight. As part of the Classics line, the version of Blade Dancer available to PS4 and PS5 players will have upscaled rendering, quick-save options, and custom video filters to enhance the presentation.

A few other titles in the Game Catalog will also be of interest to RPG fans. Dishonored 2 and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider are both high points in the series and for immersive sims in general. Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruine blends farming techniques inspired by ancient Japanese agriculture with side-scrolling combat. Rune Factory 4 Special brings life-sim tranquility and blends it with some fantasy-themed dungeon-crawling as well.
