PS5 Access Controller launches on December 6, pre-orders open July 21
Sony announced that the Access Controller for the PlayStation 5 will launch globally on December 6, 2023. Originally announced as "Project Leonardo," the Access Controller is a specialized customizable controller targeted at players with disabilities. Pre-orders for the controller open on July 21, 2023.
Sony previewed the Access controller's capabilities in a trailer:
Shaped a bit like a joystick with a sectioned circular arrangement of buttons, the PS5 Access controller is designed to allow a user to customize the controller to their needs. The stick can be adjusted and extended, and every button can be swapped out and remapped as necessary. It can store multiple control profiles and is compatible with other accessibility devices that connect via 3.5mm jacks. It can also be used in conjunction with the PS5's standard DualSense and DualSense Edge controller, or be paired with a second Access controller.
The controller itself will go for a retail price of $89.99, and pre-orders will open via Sony's PlayStation Direct online store.
