Kingdom Hearts 3D Interview with Tetsuya Nomura

If you recall, earlier we reported the bit of non-news regarding Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Truth be told, that information came from a full interview largely focused on Kingdom Hearts 3D.

Thanks to translation via SQEXGal, we have a bit of new information for you.

Regarding the game's length, Nomura says it will clock in around 35 hours - much longer of course, if you do extras such as mini-games and Dream Eater training.

Speaking of Dream Eaters, your fighting style can differ depending on the type of Dream Eaters you end up using. Their growth is ultimately tied to Sora and Riku's growth. Dream Eater's growth is like a breeding system - treating them well will make them grow better. King Wondernyan isn't an evolution of a Wondernyan, they are separate Dream Eaters. You'll be able to name your Dream Eaters as well, with over 50 you can team up with, however boss types are not included.

Donald and Goofy couldn't be party members this time because they are not Keyblade wielders. Thus the Dream Eaters were developed to serve in their place.

The first box art design for KH3D featured King Mickey with Riku and Sora more as side characters. Nomura felt that it didn't fit the title, so he ended up changing it to the current design.

About the game's key phrase, "Those who are asleep in sadness," Sora and Riku are preparing to rescue them. The mysterious figure in the black coat isn't necessarily new, but they are important to the story. At first they planned to have Sora go to original Tron world, and Riku go to Tron Legacy world. Other than Ansem and Xemnas who appear often, Lea and the mysterious silver haired boy are key characters. In the end we'll finally see Xemnas/Ansem's true form.

The game comes with one Augmented Reality (AR) card for one rare Dream Eater, but you'll be able to get the recipe for them in the game via StreetPass, but these will be rare. The command system in KH3D is different than BBS, it's more of a mix between 358/2 Days and Re:coded's.

Want even more KH3D news? Not to worry, next week's Famitsu promises even more with yet another interview with Tetsuya Nomura.
