Final Fantasy XIV The Rising 2023 Event begins on August 27, awards a new mount.

Square Enix is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV this year and has something special planned for its yearly "The Rising" anniversary event. This year's installment will introduce players to some limited in-game prizes, a new minigame, and a story-focused quest that will remain even after the event concludes. It kicks off on August 27, 2023.

The Final Fantasy XIV The Rising 2023 event itself runs until whenever the next patch - version 6.5 - releases, so there's no big hurry to get it done right away. However, those who'd like to avail themselves of a brand-new rideable mount should go and meet with the NPC Kipih Jakkya in Ul'dah. After a brief quest, they'll obtain the new Rising Phoenix mount.

The Rising Phoenix Mount is a new rideable mount based on the Phoenix primal as seen in FFXIV. Like other in-game mounts, it can move on the ground and fly. It also has a special flourish action called "A Flame Reborn" that triggers a fancy visual effect. Players can also purchase a special Rising Advertisement furnishing item that shows off art featuring the Scions.

The Rising 2023 event also brings with it a new minigame and the ability to read "messages written to those who survived the Seventh Umbral Calamity". The minigame is called "Kupo Kupo Adventure" and features a moogle Black Mage firing off spells for a high score. The minigame and messages are accessible from special NPCs.

Beyond the event itself, players can take on a new story-focused quest to learn more about Archon Louisoix, who was a key figure in the story of Final Fantasy XIV before its reincarnation as A Realm Reborn. Louisoix is also the grandfather of the Scions Alisaie and Alphinaud and inspired them to come to Eorzea and to better the world through their actions. To take on the quest, players will need to have finished the A Realm Reborn portion of the FFXIV Main Scenario and have a character at Level 50. The quest will remain accessible even after The Rising 2023 event ends, so newer players can learn more about Louisoix or refresh their memory of his actions

Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PS4, and PS5. Check out our impressions of the most recent content update, patch 6.4.
