Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth launches on January 26, 2024

Sega and RGG Studio have announced that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is launching on January 26, 2024 simultaneous worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam). The game also received two new trailers - one that provides a detailed overview of its story and the other gives a comprehensive breakdown of the gameplay that players can expect to engage with.

In the 10-minute story trailer, players catch up with what Yakuza: Like a Dragon protagonist Ichiban Kasuga has been going through since the previous installment's events. Through some various twists and turns, he finds himself swept up naked on the beaches of Hawaii. It's not long till series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu reunites with him as he has his own things to take care of, as well. The story trailer provides a lot of revelations, so those who want to avoid all story spoilers should beware before watching it.

The main playable characters are back in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth including Nanba, Adachi, Saeko, Joon-gi, and Zhao. Seong-hui was previously introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon and now she returns as a playable character. New characters Tomizawa and Chitose join the crew this time around. Of course, Kazuma Kiryu himself joins the party too.

Moving onto the 5-minute gameplay trailer, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth looks to be the biggest game in the series yet. Players are no longer just in Japan; they get to explore Hawaii with all the things that have defined the series. Now, a dynamic weather system will be in this installment to make your stay in Hawaii even more memorable.

Turn-based RPG battles return from Yakuza: Like a Dragon. This time, people can manually move their party members over a limited space before committing to an action command. They'll have greater freedom over being able to pick up environmental objects as their assault weapon. Even though Kiryu is a turn-based RPG character now, he'll still have some commands that will allow players to briefly play him like his iconic brawler style.

The Job system returns from the last entry and several of them were showcased including Samurai, Desperado, Geodancer, Pyrodancer, Housekeeper, Action Star, and Sujimancer. The Poundmates summon system return too; several notable cameos from the ones revealed were Kaoru Sayama, Makoto Date, and Shun Akiyama.

Some minigames that were featured in this new Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth gameplay trailer were Take Crazy Delivery, a parody of Crazy Taxi that has Ichiban deliver food on a bike. Plus, the Pokemon-parody Sujimon minigame is back now with its own battle system. Miss Match revolves around dating apps to see if Ichiban can find love out in Hawaii. Many more minigames were shown off, so take a look for yourself.

Those who pre-order Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will get access to the Special Job Set that includes the Tennis Ace Job for female party members and the Linebacker Job for the male party members; a Hero's Booster set is also available for pre-orders that includes several consumables and materials.
