UK was supposed to have 2 million PS3s in 2006?

Sony's targets for the original PS3 launch that was announced at E3 2006 may have been even more unrealistic and difficult to release than we originally thought.

Speaking to videogames retailer Gamestation in the UK about the Nintendo Wii Launch, which is now a mere 18 days away in the UK, a spokesperson for the company mentioned that Sony had talked about shipping 2 million PS3 consoles in the UK before the December 31st, 2006.

To us this is a very strange - and ambitious - number, and is perhaps an indication to just who Europe was the first launch region to get dropped from the international launch. Gamestation also said they expect similar numbers come May, when the PS3 is set to hit the UK - unless it is delayed again.
