1990 PC-9801 RPG Crimson III is now playable on Windows 10 & 11 PCs via Project EGG emulator in Japan
D4 Enterprise has just released a port of Crimson III for Windows 10 and 11 PCs via their Project EGG platform. This title is the third and last entry in the Crimson trilogy of role-playing games released by Xtalsoft (read: Crystalsoft) between 1987 and 1990.
For the record, Crimson III originally appeared for PC-8801mkIISR in May 1990. However, the Project EGG page clarified that this port is more specifically based on the later PC-9801 version that came out on October 19, 1990. Xtalsoft was eventually merged into T&E Soft. However, D4 Enterprise acquired the intellectual property for the company's game titles in 2019.
But regardless of the version ported, the appearance of Crimson III has finally completed the entire trilogy on Project EGG. D4 Enterprise had previously released the 1987 PC-8801mkIISR version of the first Crimson and the 1989 MSX2 version of Crimson II. The first Crimson is even available for free, provided you can navigate yourself through the Japanese language-exclusive website.
You can find the official trailer and screenshots for the new port of Crimson III right below. The classic game is so far available only in the Japanese language.
