Round8 is adding difficulty options to Lies of P thanks to requests both internally and from players

Last week we had the chance to go hands-on with Lies of P's upcoming DLC, Lies of P: Overture. We're feeling pretty confident the DLC will end up well worth the wait - but something else we learned during the event was that the DLC will coincide with an update to the game adding a number of new features. Access to the DLC content for those who purchased it is an obvious one, but the real bombshell is that the game will receive a set of difficulty options - and Round8 very explicitly doesn't want to share with players exactly how these differ from the original, now renamed "Legendary Stalker" difficulty mode.

During a briefing and QA alongside the game's director Choi Ji-won, the team shared that the addition of new difficulty modes comes as a direct response to both internal feedback from within the team itself, as well as the desires of fans. Per an official press release following the preview event, the two new difficulty options have been revealed as "Butterfly's Guidance" and "Awakened Puppet", and "are for players who want a more story-focused experience with varying degrees of intensity in combat encounters." While these two new difficulties are meant to offer an eacier time for players, the team was steadfast in not wanting to share any specifics - they don't want players to judge themselves or others for using these new modes.

Also slated to be added to the game with the same patch is the ability to replay boss encounters - Battle Memories and Death March will be added to the game as the same time as Overture's release, and allows players to tackle boss fights they'd already overcome. While Battle Memories allows you to tackle individual fights, Death March allows players to queue up 3 or more boss fights to take on in a gauntlet with limited resources. Both modes offer additional difficulty levels for bosses, from 1 to 5, with the higher difficulties surpassing the challenge of the fights when fought normally during the story.

While we don't have a release date for Lies of P: Overture yet (an SGF announcement, maybe?) - the DLC will launch for $29.99 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC/Mac (Steam) later this Summer.
