Enterbrain, the parent company of respectable Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed the launch data for Japan's Wii launch.

Enterbrain reveal that 372,000 Wii units were sold over the launch weekend, with a software tie of 1.68. (That's 1.68 games per console).

The top selling Wii game was Wii Sports, selling an impressive 176,880 copies. Just behind was the similar videogame Wii Play, with 171,888 copies to its name, while Zelda: Twilight Princess came in at third place, selling a total of 145,068.

There is little surprise in Nintendo's success in Japan - but it's good news for the company regardless. Europe in two days, then Nintendo have started their next generation campaign; where it will lead them, we can only speculate.
