Ninjutsu hand seal-based game BE Ninja releases for PC via Steam Early Access
Japanese solo indie developer Fortgs has released an Early Access version of BE Ninja for PC via Steam. While this indie game seems to be made with RPG Maker, it distinguishes itself by featuring camera inputs of the player performing actual ninjutsu hand seals. As such, this game will require a webcam connected to the computer.
BE Ninja will include tutorials on how to perform the hand seals, with 3D hand models also available to show the exact positions needed. There are also mini-games that let you practice the seals in quick succession. This is because the game's actual battles will make ninjutsu skills more powerful if the seal sequences are completed faster.
You can find screenshots and descriptions for BE Ninja right below. Even though the Steam page includes English descriptions, the game is still only available in Japanese as of the Early Access launch.
Perform ninjutsu by tying seals with your own hands!
One of the most important features of this game is that the camera recognizes the marks made by the player's hands.
You can experience the experience of activating ninjutsu by quickly making a mark, just like a real ninja.
A camera is required to play this game.
Don't know how to make a mark?
Don't worry, we have a friendly tutorial to help you see the hand shape in 3D.
Game Overview
The player plays the role of the main character, a novice ninja, who uses the ninjutsu he has acquired to fight battles and explore Japan during the Sengoku Period.
Battle
This is a turn-based battle between the player and the enemy.
The player's turn has a time limit, and the player can use ninjutsu as many times as he/she wants within the time limit.
In addition, the faster a mark is made, the more powerful the ninjutsu will be.
In other words, the faster you can make a mark, the more advantageous you will be in the battle!
Enemies with various characteristics will appear on the stage.
(enemies that counterattack every time they are attacked, enemies whose attacks do not work below a certain damage level, enemies whose attack power increases every turn... and so on),
The player's analytical skills and judgment will be tested to determine the characteristics of the enemy and which techniques to use at what timing.
Practice
Practicing asceticism (mini-games) at home can increase a player's status for a while.
The mini-games are a little different from battles in that they allow the player to experience the play of making marks.
