1985 PC-8801 RPG Arks Road now available for free to EGG Project PC subscribers
D4 Enterprise revealed that they have released a port of the classic PC-8801 RPG Arks Road for modern Windows PC via their Project EGG platform. This release is available for free, but with a catch: Players must have an active subscription at EGG Project, which costs 550 yen monthly.
For the record, Arks Road was made by Winkysoft. The now-defunct company was best known for working on the Super Robot Wars series prior to their bankruptcy in 2016. However, Arks Road was one of their earliest releases in 1985 before they got into the SRW era in 1991.
Arks Road was known for its robust character creation system, which includes class and spell assignments. However, it also notably had an Alignment system where characters are categorized into Good, Neutral, or Evil, and conflicting alignments may actually prevent a specific character from joining the party.
