Ys Legacy Collection ~Ys I&II&III For X68000 Z~ will be available in Japan this Winter

BEEP has announced that they will Ys Legacy Collection ~Ys I&II&III For X68000 Z~ this Winter in Japan. This new compilation will bundle Ys I & II with Ys III: Wanderers From Ys for the dedicated retro PC game emulator console.

For the record, the X68000 is a personal workstation computer released exclusively in Japan in 1987. But as it had similar hardware to late 1980s arcade games, most people used the computer to play games via compatible floppy disks. The Japanese company Zuiki aims to tap into the X68000's nostalgia factor by releasing the X68000 Z emulator mini-console.

Going back to the Ys series, BEEP had previously worked with Nihon Falcom to release the actual X68000 versions of Ys I & II ~Lost ancient kingdom~ in 2021 and Ys III ~Wanderers From Ys~ in late 2022, complete with the actual floppy disks. As the X68000 Z features SD card slots, the new bundle will also contain the actual games on an SD card instead.

As a side note, Zuiki also has plans to release the X68000 Z emulator consoles outside Japan. However, the company recently paused their crowdfunding campaign for the X68000 Z SUPER / Z XVI on Indiegogo.
