Solo indie PC mecha strategy RPG Rhea of the Remnant has demo version up on Steam
South Korean solo indie developer MushroomShoes has set up a Steam page for a new mecha turn-based strategy RPG titled Rhea of the Remnant. A demo version of the game is also immediately available to download and access. The full version is slated for release around early 2026.
This game came to our attention thanks to the Japanese outlet 4Gamer discovering it at the BIC2025 indie game event held in Busan. The interview also revealed how Into the Breach served as an inspiration for this game and how MushroomShoes started working on it during his free time in the middle of his conscription period.
This game will primarily provide challenges by having the player field only up to 3 members, but they will have to face an overwhelming amount of enemies, with damage-dealing weather like sandstorms also hampering them. You will have to make good use of APs to navigate through the battles. While movements do not consume AP unlike Front Mission, it will instead be used for not only attacks but also evasions for some of the available ally mechs.
You can find screenshots and descriptions for Rhea of the Remnant right below. The game will be available in Korean, English, and Japanese.
Rhea of the Remnant is a mecha Tactical RPG that commands a small number of allies and knocks down a large number of enemies.
There are only three allies, the number of enemies is more than double, and it's very powerful. You can reset the turn without restriction, so the player repeats the number of turns and designs and executes the optimal turn.
Each unit has its own capabilities and roles, and can be nurtured with new active/passive skills or additional upgrades. Depending on the situation on the stage and the synergy between friendly units, you can try different combinations of skills and upgrades.
Additionally, each stage has a unique environmental effect, which works favorably and unfavorably as it is utilized. Enemy units also have a variety of abilities, and most of them interact with environmental effects, each with strengths and weaknesses.
Players must use the various capabilities of the unit to cope with enemy attacks, use the terrain to create a favorable composition, and use the environment and even enemy attacks to overcome adverse situations.
