Hironobu Sakaguchi: Currently we don't have any big RPG projects

Final Fantasy father and Mistwalker boss Hironobu Sakaguchi isn't doing much in terms of big budget games these days. In fact, his team has been hard at work on smaller iOS titles, with their most recent release following The Last Story (which launches next week in North America) being a surfing game called Party Wave.

Speaking with JPGames.de, Sakaguchi was asked if he was currently working on any new big RPGs - to which he responded, "Currently we don’t have any big RPG projects. At this time I would like to create games with a small production team and build up a good and solid team. I don’t know what will happen down the road. But that unknown is the life’s enjoyment, I think."

He's currently working on two more iOS games including a tower defense title with a sci-fi setting.
