Code Vein II Buddy system explained in more detail
Bandai Namco has published a new Japanese press release where they revealed more details on the Buddy system in Code Vein II. The new information explains the benefits a Buddy can provide by having them accompany you, in addition to brief summaries for the 6 Buddies known so far.
You can find our translation of the new details right below. Code Vein II will be available worldwide for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on January 30, 2026, with Japan getting the console releases a day earlier on January 29.
- HP and LP (Link Points) - The latter indicates the linkage between you and your Buddy. When you take damage, the LP will be depleted first and your HP will only be depleted if the LP gauge is already empty. And when you are recovering, the HP gauge will fill first and any excess amount will then be used to recover LP.
- Buddy Buffs
	- Link Trait - Each Revenant Buddy will have a different Link Trait that will give a benefit during battles and/or explorations, but it will only be valid when there is a strong linkage with the LP gauge not depleted.
- Buddy Bonus Trait - Buffs to player stats or actions that will permanently apply by choosing the specific Buddy, and the effects can be amplified by improving your relationship with them.

- Buddy Actions
	- Revenant Attack - Buddies can also use Revenant Attacks to absorb blood from enemies. They can also share some of the blood with the player, which will recover a small amount of Ichor.
- Gift Heal - When the player is knocked out, the Buddy can use Gift Heal to revive you. However, this will cause the Buddy to become unavailable for a good while.

- Buddy Change - You can change your current Buddy anytime at a checkpoint. There is also a generic Jail Equipment called Guardian's Heart that will let you sortie without any Buddy.
In addition, Bandai Namco published details about the 6 Buddies who are known so far to be able to accompany you. Note that some of the support spells are tentatively translated and may differ from the official English release.
