Nintendo Wii? That'll be £315, mate.

Last year the guys over at gaming blog UK Resistance kept a close eye on the prices of Xbox 360 consoles after launch, discovering UK Games Chain CEX (Computer Exchange) selling core systems for a whopping 325 quid.

Almost exactly one year on, we find them doing the same with the Nintendo Wii.

The store is now selling Wii consoles for a massive £315 - that's £135 more than the recommended retail price of £180, a price point one employee described as "entirely reasonable." Asked if they'd sold any at this price, I was told that they'd had more than a few desperate parents pay extra in order to get their hands on their kid's biggest wish for Christmas. The best thing about this? All these Wii consoles are preowned.

Always on the search for an interesting story, I decided to enter the store and speak to the staff. I'm rather frank with them - they know who I am and that I work for gaming websites. "315 pounds?" I say. "Taking the piss, aren't you?"

"Reasonable." the one says in reply. "Cheaper than paying 500 for one on ebay.
