Nitro Gen Omega early access roadmap teases full release with additional platforms in May 2026

DESTINYbit has published a new Early Access Roadmap for Nitro Gen Omega. The studio also teases that the game's full release will appear in May 2026, and they also hint at more platforms besides the PC platform Steam, which currently hosts the Early Access build.

The current Early Access build has been regularly getting updates almost every month. After improving the custom character creation feature in the early months, the studio recently launched updates that improved the Sonar system in October and added more character activities in November. While another update is also planned this month, the studio plans to release a couple more pre-full-launch major updates next year in January and March.

You can also find a copy of the roadmap announcement right below. Nitro Gen Omega has been available for PC via Steam Early Access since last June.

Crew,

We’ve got a special announcement for you today! We’re thrilled to finally share the development roadmap for the remainder of our Early Access period.

What a ride it’s been so far. Since our Early Access launch back in June, we’ve released six patches — including two major updates: Character Creator and Lost Frequencies.

Our next major update, Vocations, is coming soon, and we’re excited to announce two more big updates before our final release and version 1.0 next year.

We’ve been working closely with the community to identify your main requests and see how they could fit into our long-term plans.

After Vocations, we’ll be focusing on improving the tutorial, which is due for a full rework. If you’ve already moved well past that stage — don’t worry — we’ve got something new for you too: new enemies to face across the wastelands!

Next, it’ll be time to introduce a brand-new Mech, which we’ve been developing for a while. This addition will complete the final roster of mechs available in the game.

When we first envisioned NITRO GEN OMEGA, we aimed for a sandbox experience. Over time, however, the game evolved naturally toward a more structured narrative, featuring quests that better match the kind of experience many of you expect from this world.

That evolution leads to one clear outcome: the addition of a true main quest. While our existing side quests did a solid job of guiding players through the wastelands and unlocking content, they lacked the emotional weight and narrative closure of a full story — with a beginning, middle, and end. A true end. We hope you’ll enjoy what we’re cooking.

The Main Quest — and therefore version 1.0 — comes with one important caveat: you’ll need to start a new game to experience it. We’ll do our best to ensure your existing save files remain usable (so you can keep playing if you wish), but the new story won’t integrate seamlessly with older saves. We’ll make sure to remind everyone of this closer to launch.

Alongside the main quest, version 1.0 will also bring NITRO GEN OMEGA to new platforms, so stay tuned for more announcements in the near future. This roadmap doesn’t exclude smaller updates that may roll out along the way — we’ll keep you posted as we go.

It’s been a privilege building this game with you, and a joy having you along for the ride.

See you on the wastelands,

GP
