The End of History launches for PC via Steam Early Access
WorldMap and WhisperGames have launched an Early Access version of The End of History for PC via Steam. This is a strategy RPG made a solo Japanese developer Hiroshi "Tatamibeya" Sakakibara, who had previously worked on Cyberpunk 2077 as an environment artist.
This game will take place in a fictional medieval-era world, and the player will be primarily tasked with preventing the world from collapsing due to rising hatred and division. The player's character will be able to promote into various roles ranging from a thief to a monarch, and their decisions will also have profound effects on the game's world and characters.
Be advised, however, that the game's Steam page has an AI-generated content disclosure as of the Early Access launch. Even though the characters and background images are all drawn by hand, the developer admits to using AI-generated images for "certain UI frames and icons". The Early Access updates are promised to include improvements to the UI and UX, so players' feedback will be needed to convince Tatamibeya to implement a fully hand-made user interface by the game's full release.
You can find the official screenshots and descriptions for The End of History right below. As of the Early Access release, the game is available in Japanese, English, and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified).
Medieval Sandbox RPG: Weave Your Destiny
『The End of History』 is a sandbox-style strategy RPG set in a medieval-inspired world.
As the protagonist, you leave your foster parent's home one day and embark on a journey as an unknown wanderer.
In a world where the motives of numerous NPCs intertwine, and cooperation and betrayal collide,
you become a part of this world and can live freely as you choose.
Stop the Collapse of the World
Your mission is singular: to stop the collapse of the world. The world is heading towards destruction fueled by rising hatred and division. Every action has consequences, and you must observe their effects carefully.
Live Freely
From being a nameless entity to becoming a thief, trader, knight, or even a king, your existence in the world is up to you. Your choices shape your destiny.
'Obelisk' Mystery
This massive and mysterious structure holds the wisdom of a seemingly infinite world. Its existence is now shrouded in mystery, with fragments scattered across the world to piece together its secrets.
A Unique Story──
This is not a heroic tale, but a record of historical observation. The aftermath of battles, the words exchanged, the small, forgotten choices──
all of these stir emotions and change actions. NPCs will continue to live their lives without you.
However, your decisions create ripples in their stories.
This game does not depict a predetermined scenario, but a unique and unrepeatable history
born from the player's involvement.
