The player can control Faie directly with the R stick, or a second player can control her in local co-op.
Faie will learn new magic abilities during her journey. Some obstacles blocking Elliot’s progress can only be overcome with fairy magic, so actively put any new magic she learns to the test.
Sprint
The magic “sprint” puts high speed into Elliot’s step. Use it to solve puzzles, or just get where you’re going that much more quickly.
Warp
The magic “warp” transports Elliot to wherever Faie is in an instant.
It has multiple uses, such as dodging attacks and obstacles or getting into a favorable position behind the enemy.
Resurrection
Should Elliot lose all his vitality and fall in battle, Faie can bring him back to life. You can continue the adventure from exactly where it was interrupted.
Resurrection by Faie comes at a price: tul, the currency of Philabieldia. Consider your finances and surroundings before deciding to jump back into action.
Magicite
Bring magicite fragments you find to the magicite shop to have them formed into whole pieces of magicite with special effects. Various pieces of magicite can be equipped as a set that confers their combined effects to Elliot’s weapons. Find the combinations that suit your playstyle and give you the advantage in battle. Magicite fragments can be found as random loot dropped by defeated enemies and in treasure chests among other places.
Magicite is formed at a shop in town from magicite fragments. You won’t know what magicite you’ll get until it’s formed, but you can select type you hope to get according to weapon.
The more magicite you form, the higher your rank will go, giving you a better chance at forming rarer types of magicite.
Each piece of magicite has a fixed cost to equip, and you can equip as much as will fit within the total cost available. Try adjusting your magicite sets to find combinations that generally complement one another or are optimized for specific areas or battles.
Keep your total equippable cost in mind when selecting magicite. The magicite shopkeeper is able to raise your cost limit for a not-so-modest fee.
Sword Magicite
Effects for customizing your sword and shield. Fortify your defenses, or conversely weaken them for the ability to execute devastating counterattacks.
Combine magicite that offers omnidirectional defense following sword attacks with magicite that powers up attacks after guarding for the ideal marriage of offense and defense.
Intentionally use your shield past its breaking point to take advantage of magicite that adds flying slashes to your attacks while you’re unable to defend. Sets can be designed to test a player’s capacity for navigating risk and reward.
Spear Magicite
Extend your polearm’s reach even further than the enemy’s range, or unlock another weapon’s potential by virtue of combining it with a spear.
A number of magicite types will enhance weapons used in the few seconds after swinging a spear. See how different weapon affinities stack up.
Combine magicite that extends the movement range of special attacks with magicite that imparts invulnerability during a special attack to break right through enemy lines. Add in magicite that shortens special attack charge time to break your way right back out.
