Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.5 will increase CERO age rating in Japan from C (15+) to D (17+)

Square Enix has announced on the Japanese website for Final Fantasy XIV that there will be a change in the MMORPG's official age rating in Japan. The game has been available with a CERO C rating (15 years or older) up until now. But starting from the upcoming Patch 7.5, it will be increased to CERO D (17 years or older).

The company specified the Group Pose feature as the primary reason for this change. They noted that if they were to retain the lower CERO C rating, they would have to add more restrictions to this feature.

You can find our translation of Square Enix's announcement after the jump right below. The first part of Patch 7.5 for Final Fantasy XIV will be available on April 28.

Starting from the currently planned Patch 7.5, we plan for the CERO rating for Final Fantasy XIV to be changed from CERO C to CERO D.

Right now if we stay in CERO C, we would have to add restrictions to the Group Pose feature, so in order to maintain the degree of freedom in Group Pose without adding restrictions, we have decided to change the age rating to CERO D.

This change only applies to the age rating, and there are no changes to the game content, terms of use, and service fees. However, customers who are under 17 years of age are advised to use this service after confirming with their guardians regarding this change.
