Solo Japanese indie strategy RPG Balorizon releases for PC via Steam this May

Japanese solo indie developer Renka has published a Steam page for a new strategy RPG titled Balorizon in English. The game is set to be available this May.

This game will place the player as the ruler of a colony in a fantasy world, and they will be tasked with growing the colony by managing through domestic affairs, diplomacy, and expansion wars. The game will also have more than 10 endings, with the ending reached depending on the player's chosen actions.

Take note that this developer has been admitting to using generative AI for several background music pieces and preliminary art assets, not only for this game but also on the more recently published games like Mercury Elopement SyndromeThe End of the World and Her Room, and Sun Halo. In addition, we suspect the English translations for this game also relied on automatic AI, as the primary descriptions somehow refer to Tianping Line—based on the kanji title 天平線—as opposed to the official English title Balorizon.

You can find the official screenshots and English descriptions for Balorizon right below.

Step into the role of a newly appointed lord of a colony in a fantasy world, grow its economy, balance its races, and expand its borders.

Make your choices. Decide the fate of a nation.
Guide your nation through decisions in domestic affairs, diplomacy, expansion, and random events. Branching event chains continue to shape the nation’s development, while also changing your approach to future battles.

Build your own team from a diverse cast of characters
Dozens of recruitable characters each bring their own skills, roles, and growth paths. Adjust your team composition and character growth to match the enemies you face, and create builds suited to each situation.

Interwoven storylines, with more than ten endings
As your nation grows, new characters and storylines will gradually emerge. Your choices leave their mark at every level, ultimately leading to different endings.

Want a more direct approach? Become a tyrant.
If you are tired of compromise and restraint, rule instead by brute force. Seize wealth, suppress the populace, gather resources, and take on even harsher battles under oppressive rule.

What you shape is not only the nation’s future, but also how this world answers you.
