Akiba's Trip series sales reach 1 million units on its 15th anniversary

Acquire announced that the Akiba's Trip series has surpassed 1 million units in its total sales. The company also made this announcement right on the 15th anniversary of the series, based on the release of the first Akiba's Trip for PlayStation Portable in Japan on May 19, 2011.

The company shared a press release which is published on several Japanese outlets, including DenFamiNico Gamer. This press release implies that they only counted the first Akiba's Trip—which was also later remastered into Akiba's Trip: First Memory in Japanese and Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed in English for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam)—and the second entry Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed, which was gradually released for the PS3, PS Vita, PS4, PC (Steam), and Switch.

The Akiba's Trip series have been widely known for their unique premise. The player gets to explore the Akihabara district in Tokyo, Japan, as it appeared in the games' original release windows. They are tasked to eliminate vampires who are disguised as humans while roaming around the area, by fighting them and ultimately stripping their outer clothes to let the sunlight evaporate them.
