Star Trek Online Summer 2026 event starts June 3, distributes playable Gomtuu living starship

The yearly summer event for MMORPG Star Trek: Online will begin on June 3, 2026, and as with previous summertime celebrations, will reward participating players with a new, free playable starship. 

This year, the playable starship is a variant of the living ship Gomtuu, which was first seen in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Tin Man." In the episode, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise must race against the Romulans to attempt to communicate with a powerful living spacecraft of unknown origin. The starship's name is revealed to be "Gomtuu," after its interaction with a telepathic Betazoid aboard the Enterprise.

Players will be able to earn their own Gomtuu by taking part in daily activities over the duration of the Star Trek Online summer event, which takes place on the pleasure planet of Risa. The activities available range from jetpack tours to races across the water on hoverboards, and drop currencies used to obtain various rewards, including swimwear costumes, accessories, new abilities for use in space and ground combat, and vanity pets. The 2026 summer event will also add new goodies for players, such as football uniforms based on in-universe football teams, vintage British naval uniforms based on those seen in the Star Trek: Generations film, and multicolored pets based on the Moopsy alien from Star Trek: Lowere Decks.

The Star Trek Online summer event will run from June 3 to July 3, 2026, and is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
